Do You Use The Webster Technique?
Yes, Webster Technique is a method developed specifically for baby turning by aligning the pelvis and reducing tension in strained round ligaments.
We actually use the Webster Technique as a base technique during pregnancy pelvic checks (all trimesters), not just for helping to have a natural breach resolution.
We will check the alignment of the pelvis as well as the round ligament tension in an effort to create a nice bowl-like pelvic girdle for your baby to rest within. This technique also helps with your discomfort - when the issue stems from the pelvis or lower back.
What Is A Round Ligament?
"As your baby and womb grow, the round ligament stretches. That makes it more likely to become strained. Sudden movements can cause the ligament to tighten quickly, like a rubber band snapping. This causes a sudden and quick jabbing feeling across the groin area." - WebMD 2018
Do You Use Special Equipment?
Our Chiropractors use tables that adjust for a pregnant woman’s body, and they use techniques (webster technique) that avoid unneeded pressure on the abdomen. The Belloost Cushion/ pillow is also added.
Pregnancy Safe Exercises
The general needs of women who are pregnant means we will also provide you with exercises and stretches that are safe to use during pregnancy.
The first step is to see one of our Doctors of Chiropractic in a consultation. However, if you would like to speak to a treatment advisor first
The first mental challenge to expectant mothers seeking care during pregnancy is baby safety and safety is our number one priority, due to this and the fact you are changing shape your treatment is addressed uniquely.
Within this section, we have pointed out some traits that only expectant mothers will experience.
For added comfort during the second and third trimesters, we will often introduce a specialist Belloost pregnancy pillow. These professional pads lift pressure off your breasts and your bump, While you lie face down. YES, that's right face down! This position alone is an ordinarily enjoyable experience for the female sherpa with back discomfort.
You are no longer the same shape as you were and you will grow through your pregnancy. Therefore it makes sense that your bench changes with your body. Only Chiropractic benches do this.
Rapid fetal growth spurts lead to rapid stretching of your pelvic ligaments. These often create discomforts around the lower bump (Braxton Hicks).
As part of our pregnancy maintenance care, we review these ligaments and soften tensions appropriately. This approach reduces discomforts and protects function - before they get nasty.
Pregnancy-specific rehabilitation is needed to build up the hips, and pelvic floor ready to take the rapid expansion of your baby's size/weight. But also to ensure that you have the back, hip and pelvic strength post-pregnancy that a new mum needs.
